I assign all requests with a number. After the submission period ends, I use a random number generator to select ten requests.

If your request is selected, I will reach out with more information within two weeks. This will include a detailed description of your custom piece, as well as a price quote.

If your request was not chosen, and you decide to submit another request for the following month, your initial number will remain, increasing your chances of being chosen. The more often you submit a request (limit of once/month), the higher your chances are.

I wish I could accept everyone’s requests, but I get way too many to do so, and this method seems to be the most fair.

You will receive an email within two weeks of submission, regardless of whether or not your request was chosen.

You are welcome to submit another request for the following month! In fact, the more often you submit (limit of once per month), the higher your chances are of being selected (similar to raffle tickets).

If I am not able to or not comfortable creating your design, I will let you know. Otherwise, feel free to continue submitting monthly until your request is selected!

However, if you do decide to move forward after we decide on a design, I will ask for a non-refundable deposit of $100.

Yes! Feel free to look through my shop or my Instagram page (@k2.clay) for ideas. I am willing to recreate most of my previous pieces. However, it is impossible for me to make an exact replica, so please be aware that there will be minor differences.

If I do not feel comfortable recreating a certain piece, I will let you know via email.

Custom orders typically cost more than the pieces in my shop, as they usually take significantly longer for me to make. Extra time is spent coordinating back and forth to make sure I capture your design and the making process takes much longer.

Here is a rough breakdown of what you can expect to pay (price varies significantly depending on complexity and design):

Mugs: $180 - $375
Planters: $210 - $500
Watering Bells: $180 - $375
Lamps: $500 - $750
Shot Glass: $75 - $120

If your request is selected, I will send you an estimate. You can expect all custom order pieces to take 4-6 weeks from confirmation to delivery.

I will not accept requests containing multiple pieces, unless the pieces are clearly part of a set. For example, I have accepted several ‘husband & wife’ mug requests.

Mugs, planters, watering bells, lamps, and shot glasses. Please note that lamps will not include a lampshade.

If you would like something not included in this list, you are still welcome to request it.

Unfortunately pottery can be quite fickle, and flaws/defects happen often. However, I would never expect you to purchase a flawed piece.

If your piece ends up being a misfit (a completed piece with a defect/flaw), you will have the opportunity to buy your piece at a significant discount.

Or, I will remake your piece (though you may need to wait another 2-4 weeks).

You can choose clay color, glaze colors, lip colors, facial features (glasses, freckles, teeth, ears, jewelry, makeup) and more!

For an additional cost you can also choose to add personalized writing (either via stamps or writing in glaze.)

Please note that I will not be purchasing new materials. The clay and glaze selections will only come from my existing materials. Example photos are on the request form and can be found on my instagram.

In general I do not make replicas of real people. My faces are cartoonish in nature and are not meant to look realistic. However, I will do my best to capture particular features (facial hair, glasses, freckles, etc.) If you are hoping for a replica of a real person, we can communicate back and forth and I will let you know what I think will be doable.

I enjoy documenting the making process of certain items and if I am particularly inspired by your design, I may want to create a video of the process. However, when submitting your design request you can opt out of any social media content.

If I do end up making a video of your piece, I will let you know ahead of time and confirm what you are comfortable with me sharing.
